Each Monday, we’ll post several candidates from the previous week’s games and ask you — our readers — to vote on whom you think is the most deserving. Voting ends at 5 p.m. each Thursday.

Here are the candidates for Week 3.
Kade Butler, ECS: Butler did most of his damage in the first quarter as the Eagles took control early against Kingsbury in a non-region contest. He completed 11 of 16 passes for 257 yards and five touchdowns as ECS improved to 2-0 with a 58-0 victory.
Chandler Day, Houston: In a game where several players came through with huge plays, Day’s was the hugest. The senior quarterback scored the game-winning touchdown on a 37-yard run with 32 seconds left as Houston won its 15th straight game, 36-30, over Germantown in the Region 8-6A opener for each team. Day finished with 93 yards rushing on nine carries and also completed 12 of 21 passes for 271 yards passing and three scores.
Andrew Johnson, Fairley: A junior and three-year starter for the Bulldogs, Johnson is making his case for Mr. Football consideration in Class 2A. He completed 10 of 14 passes for 304 yards and six touchdowns (5, 48, 48, 80, 15, 50) for the Bulldogs in a 64-0 region victory over KIPP.
Skylan Smith, Covington: Chalk up three victories in a row for the Chargers, with last week’s being the biggest to date, thanks in large part to their senior running back. Smith gained 213 yards on 22 carries and scored on runs of 16, 37 and 53 yards as Covington downed Dyersburg, 30-15, in a match-up of state-ranked Class 3A teams.
Christopher Talley, Whitehaven: The Tigers have had their share of very good running backs down through the years, and Talley is rapidly staking his claim to join them. In the region opener against Arlington, the junior carried 25 times for 341 yards and five touchdowns (50, 1, 9, 28, 75) to spark Whitehaven (2-1) to a 39-25 victory.
Brody Whittaker, MASE: The Executives got back to their winning ways against Middleton, thanks in large part to their senior signal-caller. Whitaker completed 11 of 18 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns and carried six times for 110 yards and two more scores as MASE rolled, 54-0.
