The event takes place Monday at the Great Hall in Germantown and is hosted by the Memphis chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
This year’s honorees are Will Adkins (Harding); Antonio Bell (Sheffield); Robert Bourdon (Collierville); Trent Carrier (Jackson Christian); Will Comer (Brighton); Will Embry (Water Valley-Miss.); John Goodwin (CBHS); Tracy Jackson (Whitehaven); Jose Joiner (Houston); Parker McClain (St. George’s); Amare McLaren (Germantown) and Brandon Nicholson (MUS). Two college players, Memphis’ Bryce Edmonson and Nathaniel Pride of Rhodes, will also be spotlighted.
Additionally, Houston coach James Thomas will be presented with the Rex Award in honor of the late Memphis State football coach Rex Dockery. The award is presented to the area coach who best exemplifies the qualities and character of Dockery, who was killed in a plane crash in 1983.
Thomas guided Houston to a 13-2 record in 2023, winning the school’s first Class 6A state championship with a 24-9 victory over Murfreesboro Oakland in the BlueCross Bowl in Chattanooga.
