In varsity cheer, they saw a successful season opener. In the Mid-South Regional competition, they were named the Mid-South Super Varsity Regional Champions.
For varsity pom, the trip was a chance to show how they have grown as a team and are working together now more than ever. In the Mid-South Regional Dance competition, the Lady Mustangs placed 2nd in Large Varsity Pom and 3rd in Varsity Gameday. Their coach, Yorubah Banks, had previously shared last year that many of the girls on the team were new to dancing, but the passion and drive was there.
This year, they are wanting to set a new standard for what it means to be a part of their team. They have worked hard to come together as a group, learn from each other and their coaches, and always keep their spirits high. Senior Captain Natalie Page said of the team’s dedication, “Success is no accident. It's hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing." The next competition for these Lady Mustangs is Magic City Dance Championship in Birmingham, AL in January, but expect to see these girls perfect their incredible routine with performances at some Mustang basketball games in this upcoming season.
