State cross country preview: CBHS leads the local contingent in Hendersonville

The TSSAA state cross country meets take place Thursday and Friday in Hendersonville. Here’s a look at the individuals and team from the Shelby-Metro area that figure to be in contention.

What: TSSAA state cross country meets

When, where: Thursday and Friday; Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville.

Race schedule: Thursday, Division 2-A girls, 10 a.m.; D2-A boys, 10:50 a.m.; Class AAA girls, 1:50 p.m.; Class AAA boys, 2:40 p.m. Friday, D2-AA girls, 10 a.m.; D2-AA boys, 10:50 a.m.; Class AA/A girls, 1:50 p.m.; Class AA/A boys, 2:40 p.m.

Weather: It should be favorable for the competitors each day. Thursday’s high will be in the low 60s and Friday’s high will be in the mid-60s. The morning races will be cooler but there shouldn’t be much wind to deal with over the 5K Sanders Ferry Course.

Girls storylines:

In Class AAA, Houston senior Zoe Marsh will be looking to end her outstanding career with a strong run; she won the region in 19:11 and has the best time of any runner this fall at 18:35.
