Once again this season, The Daily Memphian will be recognizing a high school football player of the week. But we need your help.

Each Monday, we’ll post several candidates from the previous week’s games and we’d like for you — our readers — to select the winner. Voting ends at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Here are the candidates from Week 1.

Chandler Day, Houston: One of Tennessee’s top two-sport athletes, Day got his junior year off to a fine start. He completed 17 of 23 pass attempts for 363 yards and two touchdowns (66, 63) and got a third TD on a 2-yard run as Houston rolled up over 500 yards of offense in a 42-6 win over Briarcrest.
