Once again this season, The Daily Memphian is recognizing a high school spring athlete of the week. But we need your help.

Each Monday, we’ll post several candidates from the previous week’s games and we’re asking our readers to vote for the winner. Voting will end at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Here are the candidates for Week 7.

Hays Adams, Houston soccer: Also a cross-country standout, Adams gave Lausanne the run-around on April 28. The junior scored all four of his team’s goals as the Mustangs downed the previously-undefeated Lynx, 4-1.

Eli DeBerry, Arlington baseball: DeBerry, a junior who is committed to the University of Memphis, didn’t get the decision against Houston on April 25 but could hardly have been faulted. He held a strong line-up to three hits over seven innings, while walking two and striking out 11. Arlington got the win in eight innings, 1-0.

Lanie Howe, Tipton-Rosemark softball: Howe, a freshman, had two strong games for the Rebels last week. She went 3 for 5 with three doubles in a 14-7 victory over Houston on April 27 then went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI in a 12-0 win over St. Benedict two days later. In addition, she earned the victory in both games, taking her season total to 10.

Jarryn Lowe, White Station track: Lowe, who has the best time in the state this spring in the 800, won all three of the Class 3A distance races at the MSCIAA city meet on April 29 at Crump Stadium. The junior clocked a time of 1:59.06 in the 800, won the 1,600 in 4:35.28 and took first in the 3,200 in a time of 10:35.03.

Jaitlyn Ware, Central track: The twin sister of Central boys standout Jordan Ware, Jaitlyn stole the show with a terrific performance at the MSCIAA city meet on April 29. The senior swept all three of the Class 3A sprints, winning the 100 in 12.06, the 200 in 25.54 and the 400 in 1.01.39.

Neely Wilder, ECS softball: The Eagles blanked Tipton Christian, 5-0, on April 28 but the story was Wilder. The freshman tossed a perfect game, striking out 14 of the 21 batters she faced.
