The boys and girls high school basketball seasons are coming to a close, which means spring sports are on the horizon. As we prepare for another baseball season, here are some names to know ahead of this season. Here is an early look at some of the top returning baseball players from last year. Kamron Ayers, Kingsbury, Sr.: Ayers struck out 83 batters in 27 innings pitched last season. He had a 6-1 record with a 3.14 ERA. Hudson Brown, Northpoint, Sr.: Brown, a Kentucky signee, batted .458 last season with 21 doubles and six homeruns last year for the Trojans. Ryan Bland, Houston, Sr.: Bland was tied for third on Houston last season with five home runs and he had 35 RBIs. He also had nine doubles with a .333 batting average. Thomas Crabtree, Collierville, Sr.: Crabtree, an ETSU signee, struck out 74 batters last season with a 7-1 record, helping the Dragons reach the state tournament last season. Kenny Cox, ECS, Sr.: Cox, a Walters State Community College, batted .398 with 32 RBIs and a home run for the Eagles last season. Matthew Dallas, Briarcrest, Sr.: Dallas, a Tennessee signee, had 74 strikeouts and a 1.54 ERA last season with the Saints. Owen Geiger, Munford, Sr.: Gieger had a .375 batting average and 24 RBIs last season with the Cougars. On the mound, he was 6-0 with 55 strikeouts and a 3.1 ERA. Aidan Hackett, Bartlett, Sr.: Hackett had five doubles, three home runs and 15 RBIs last season with the Panthers. He also batted. .215 as a junior. Dean McCalla, Houston, Sr.: McCalla had a 1.38 ERA with a 7-1 record last season with the Mustangs. Connor McNatt, Northpoint, Sr.: McNatt, a Northeast Community College signee, batted .448 last season with seven doubles and 49 RBIs. Eli Ramsey, Tipton-Rosemark, Sr.: Ramsey had a .411 batting average with the Rebels last season. He also had 12 doubles and 36 RBIs. Anthony Scarpino, Christian Brothers, Sr.: Scarpino was an all-metro first-team pitcher last year, posting a 5-1 record with 69 strikeouts and a 2.96 ERA. Hudson Shoaf, Memphis University School, Jr.: Shoaf, a Samford commit, was named to the Division II-AA West all-region team last year. Jack Whittington, Lausanne, Sr.: Whittington batted .321 last season with the Lynx, leading the team in hits. JB Williams, Northpoint, Sr.: Williams had 58 strikeouts with a 7-2 record and 2.62 ERA last season with the Trojans. Tyler Yearwood, Houston, Sr.: Yearwood batted .271 last season with the Mustangs and had 10 doubles during his junior campaign.
